21 Savage Gives First Interview After ICE Detention

21 Savage says he was definitely targeted by ICE officials.

Savage was detained by police after police pulled him and a friend over. They arrested him for being in the country illegally. Early reports said they were targeting his friend for an unrelated crime, but Savage says this is not the case.

The Atlanta rapper sat down with GMA just after he was released from ICE detention to talk about his ordeal.

He said in the interview that police didn’t talk to him or ask him questions and clearly knew exactly who he was. They said, ” We got Savage” after they took him into custody, which he says clearly shows intent to target him.

“I don’t even know,” Savage said in response to what happened when he was arrested. “I was just driving and I just seen guns and blue lights. And then I was in the back of a car and I was gone,” he recalled. “They didn’t say nothing. [They] said, ‘We got Savage.'”

Savage was released on bond after spending 9 days in detention. Fans and peers came out to support him, with Jay-Z hiring a specialized attorney to help with his case.

Check out what he had to say and sound off.
