Cupcakke has hit a crossroads in her life, deciding to quit music to avoid being a bad influence on children while also admitting she lost $700k gambling.

Fame isn’t for everybody, and rapper Cupcakke has decided that she has had enough. She posted a lengthy 18-minute video on social media explaining her choice to leave music and retire despite just starting to reach true success.

She cited feeling negatively about how she might be influencing young fans with her raunchy and expletive-filled lyrics. She talked of watching them repeat her lyrics at shows, which she says she thinks is wrong. In the past, she says, she would release a more down-to-earth track to counter the over-the-top lyrics of some of her other songs.

Now, she feels those songs are getting drowned out by her more popular, raunchy music, and she’s not with it. “I feel as though I’m corrupting the youth… I want to go to heaven after this, and I don’t want to go to hell,” she said while highlighting a video of children singing her more sexually enhanced songs. “Just seeing all-age kids at the shows, seeing them sing along to ‘hump me’ and ‘f**k me’ and all this s**t, it has torn me apart. I’m just not happy. Ten, eleven years old, whatever,  and I feel as though I’m corrupting them with my songs. And … I don’t want to do it no more. I just did [the Twitter rants] to bring awareness to this, that I am through, that you will no longer see me nowhere,” she said in the video.

She’s had a lot going on, including battling the media over her body image and being admitted to the hospital earlier this year after tweeting “about to commit suicide,” sending fans rushing to support her.

She also revealed she’d lost a huge sum of money after a gambling addiction. She said, “It’s been bothering me for a long time now … in September of last year, I lost seven hundred thousand in the casino,” she said in relation to her gambling addiction. “I learned during the time that I lost all of the money that I am very much at peace without it. Some people may say that this sounds crazy, but when I had this money all I had were people that used me, didn’t care for me. So when I lost the seven hundred thousand … I learned who my friends were and aren’t.”

She’s discussed having the wrong people around her, and it seems she’s gone down some wrong paths. However, we hope she can find good people to stay around her and get back into music, as her fans are hoping it’s only temporary. Even Azealia Banks came out to show support.
