JAY-Z Announces New Apparel Line and Music Series With NFL

In an effort to benefit social justice, JAY-Z and the NFL have announced that they are coming together for a new initiative that will include a clothing line and a music series.

Jigga made waves when he announced he was partnering with the NFL, with fans split over whether to support his move where he can help from the inside or criticize him for partnering with an organization that has been responsible for discrimination. They also felt the move wasn’t supportive of Colin Kaepernick and his cause, whom Jay has supported. However, he’s making fast moves to bring awareness to the issue and hopefully enact change from within.

The program marks one of the first to support the NFL’s Inspire Change nonprofit, which helps raise money for organizations that seek to drive positive social change. The clothing line will be revealed this year, and the Songs of the Season initiative will highlight musicians during NFL broadcasts. Big artists have already signed on, including Meek Mill, Meghan Trainor, and Rapsody.

Just this month, Hov and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell made the announcement of the partnership between his production company and Jay’s company, Roc Nation. Roc Nation would be acting as a “live music entertainment strategist,” which would include programs like the Super Bowl halftime show.

Since then, he spoke on the issue at a press conference, saying, “We forget that Colin’s whole thing was to bring attention to social injustice,” he said. “In that case, this is a success. This is the next thing, because there are two parts to the protest – you go out and protest, and the company and individual says, ‘I hear you. What do we do next?'”

So far, we’re sure most of what JAY-Z has up his sleeve has yet to be revealed, but we know this isn’t a decision he would have made lightly. We’re ready for what he’s got coming next, so check back for updates.
