Kanye West and JAY-Z: Beef Over TIDAL

Looks like a new rap beef is surfacing.

Looks like some Lil Wayne/Birdman beef is brewing between JAY-Z’s company TIDAL and Kanye West. Kanye is alleging that TIDAL owes him millions for streaming his songs, especially his album The Life of Pablo. He alleges that the contract was supposed to reimburse him for videos, but interestingly, he won’t give them up until they pay, and they won’t pay until he delivers. Welp. His lawyer sent off a letter to TIDAL saying they voided the contract, but as far as TIDAL is concerned, the contract is still on. This is probably going to get ugly.

This is reminiscent of Lil Wayne and Birdman. Wayne and Birdman have been locked in a legal battle over funds Wayne believes the label owes him, and it has dragged on for years as Wayne’s latest album remains unreleased.

Jay had some things to say about Yeezy on his new album, and it is unclear if Kanye knew about the lyrics in advance or has even heard them: “I know people backstab you, I feel bad too / But this f*** everybody attitude ain’t natural / But you ain’t the same, this ain’t KumbaYe / But you got hurt because you did cool by ‘Ye / You gave him 20 million without thinkin’ / He gave you 20 minutes on stage, f*** was he thinkin’? / ‘F*** wrong with everybody?’ is what you sayin’ / But if everybody’s crazy, you’re the one that’s insane.”
