What a tragic loss not just for hip hop, but for everyone after Nipsey Hussle was gunned down in cold blood in front of his Los Angeles clothing store.

<a href=Nipsey Hussle was shot along with two other victims Sunday afternoon as he stood outside Marathon Clothing at Slauson Ave and Crenshaw Blvd.

Nipsey and one other man were transported to the hospital, but they weren’t able to save Nipsey. The third man refused treatment.

Police have only revealed so far that there is one black male suspect. They had the scene locked down for hours as they began their investigation.

Nipsey, real name Ermias Davidson Asghedom, 33, admittedly had a long history with gangs, with ties to the Rolling Sixty Crips gang. However, he’d made significant contributions to his community in recent years, focusing on helping underprivileged members of his community and supporting education. He’s been working closely with community organizations to stop gang violence and improve outcomes for kids like himself. He was scheduled to meet with the LA Police Commissioner, Steve Soboroff, along with LAPD Chief Michael Moore Monday to work on ways to reduce gang violence in the LA community.

His latest album was nominated for best rap album at this year’s Grammy Awards.

He posted an ominous message on Twitter just before the shooting, writing “Having strong enemies is a blessing.”

Friends and fans reacted with shock and devastation. Friends posted their disbelief on social media, while fans followed and also flooded the area where he was shot as police tried to contain the scene.
