Tekashi 6ix9ine will be a free man in a year or so now that the judge in his case sentenced him to just 24 months, more than half of which he’s already served while awaiting the outcome of his case.

Tekashi headed to court today to find out his fate in a case that could have seen him locked away for nearly half a century. Judge Paul Engelmayer gave him the ultimate Christmas gift, handing down just 24 months in federal prison. He’s already served 13 months, so he will be released in late 2020.

Prosecutors had recommended a reduced sentence after his significant cooperation to help take down others in his Trey Nine gang. He also penned a tearful letter to the judge begging for a sentence that would give him a second chance.

With less than a year to go, it’s quite likely we’ll see him hop back in the studio when he gets out. Will you be listening to what he has to say?
